The appropriate regulation of the field of medicinal products for veterinary use is an important element in the efforts of society towards the better health and well-being of animals. Medicinal products for veterinary use are important for animals, however they also play a vital role in public health protection as the use of medicinal products in veterinary medicine prevents the spread of diseases from animals to humans, and at the same time ensures that food of animal origin is safe for human consumption.
In order to fulfil the main goal of protecting public health, JAZMP ensures that medicinal products for veterinary use are of acceptable quality, efficacy and safety. Within the framework of the legal system, JAZMP also tries to make as many of these medicinal products available on the Slovenian market as possible.
Pharmacovigilance for veterinary use is an important activity, which means monitoring adverse effects of medicinal products (including the absence of expected efficacy) in animals and in humans.
