 Joint Action Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infections 2 (EU-JAMRAI 2)

SUMMARY

The aim of the project is joint action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which represents a threat to public health as it causes more than 35,000 deaths in the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area and 1.3 million worldwide.
EU JAMRAI-2 aims to joining the participating EU Member States and the various organizations contributing to the fight against AMR. The project aims to promote the integrated control and strengthening of the prevention of infections in humans, animals and the environment with the approach “One Health “.
Based on existing initiatives, concrete actions will be proposed for the surveillance, prevention and effective management of AMR in the areas of human, animal and environmental health. This will enable participating countries to strengthen their national action plans and improve the implementation of evidence-based measures to reduce the burden of AMR in Europe and beyond.

Added value:

– Upgrading of the national action plan for the control of antimicrobial resistance with well-defined indicators and targets (including support for the establishment of the national One Health coordination and monitoring body at the level of decision-making).
– Improve existing systems to monitor antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial drug consumption and the incidence of healthcare-associated infections at NIJZ, and establish a system for monitoring the incidence of VOM by warning of outbreaks and accumulations for quick action.
– Integrate the above-mentioned monitoring systems in the field of human health, veterinary medicine and the environment (One-health).
– Expansion of infection control practices in health care from hospitals to the level of social healthcare facilities.
– Increasing public awareness (professional and lay) of microbial resistance to antimicrobial drugs.)

PARTNERS

Project coordinator: INSERM (France)

Partners: More than 120 partners from 30 countries, supported by about 40 stakeholders. European organizations such as the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and several other international organizations.

In addition to NIJZ, the following organizations from Slovenia are also participating: The National Laboratory for Health, Environment and Food (NLZOH), University Clinical Center Ljubljana (UKC LJ), University Clinical Center Maribor (UKC MB) and the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of the Republic of Slovenia (JAZMP).
