On this section of the website you can find published Medicine Shortage Communications (MSCs) addressed to healthcare professionals.
Through MSCs, marketing authorisation holders provide essential information directly to healthcare professionals. Each communication is reviewed and approved by JAZMP prior to its publication. The purpose of MSCs is to inform healthcare professionals of the shortage event and outline any necessary measures to mitigate its impact.
MSCs are published for shortages linked to:
- withdrawal of a marketing authorisation for commercial decisions;
- capacity disruptions in manufacturing or supply;
- unexpected demand increase for a certain medicine.
MSCs are not issued in cases where shortages relate to issues of quality, safety, or efficacy of the medicine. These are communicated through direct healthcare professional communications.
